Did you know that it takes up to an average of R16 000 to run the Sanctuary every month? That works out to R400 per cat at the Sanctuary!
When you choose a kitty to virtually adopt, you make a HUGE difference, and you are able to help us to help them.
You do not have to pay R400 per month in order to become a virtual parent, the minimum amount is R200. If you would like to donate less than that, then you can become a general sponsor by filling in our pledge form - or choosing to become a virtual Angel to one of our cats who have crossed rainbow bridge or by simply click here to visit the In Loving Memory page.
Please sponsor a cat
at the sanctuary today by simply filling in the form on the right.
IMPORTANT! SECOND CHANCE SANCTUARY IS A FELINE AIDS AND LEUKEMIA POSITIVE SANCTUARY. IF YOUR VIRTUAL KITTY IS NOT ON THE LIST, PLEASE CHECK UNDER IN LOVING MEMORY TO SEE IF YOUR STATUS HAS NOT CHANGED TO VIRTUAL ANGEL (THIS SADLY MEANS THAT YOUR KITTY HAS CROSSED RAINBOW BRIDGE). IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE YOUR STATUS BACK TO VIRTUAL ADOPTION, PLEASE CHOOSE A KITTY FROM THE LIST BELOW AND E-MAIL cherecedup@gmail.com.

Brody - Thrown into a rubbish bin along with his four siblings when they were a day old.

Skye - He was stuffed in a shoebox, but he couldn't fit! - Virtual Mommy - Frauke Elisabeth Ramin

Miko - Rescue from a block of flats after she had numerous litters, Miko is the sweetest girl and loves nothing more that eating and having her back scratched.
Varys - a spunky young lad that loves to play, he was rescued along with his sister and brothers from a creek where they were dumped in a bin bag.
Batman was found hanging on a fence at a hospital, he is part of our semi-feral colony. He is slowly taming down and has turned out to be quite a clown.
Spartan was brought in with a severe eye injury, its suspected that he was shot in the eye. His owners could not be found.

Alex is the sweetest little boy who loves to lay on top of you when you sleep - he was rescued from an Eco Park.

Vinnie is the cutest boy, who will announce to the world when it is bed time. He is super sweet. We received him after he was knocked by two cars on the highway - and all that was lost was a piece of his tail.

Arielle is still trying to figure out if she wants to be tame or feral, so we are leaving it up to her to decide. Her tail is always held skew - a possible balance problem from young. She absolutely loves dogs to the point where the dogs get irritated with her.

Thor - The biggest mischief maker of the whole sanctuary!

Eddie

Finnigan was brought in with his mom, Zoya, and all his siblings. They all found loving homes except for him.

Zoya is probably one of the loudest cats we have who will scream at you to open the door for her. She was brought in with her kittens and later sterilised.

Spicy aka Spice Girl is a super sweet, gentle soul (although she can be a little stuck up because she is so beautiful). She will throw tantrums if she doesn't get her evening milk fix. Virtual Moms Lauren Frizelle and Tanja Wotroba-Viljoen

Tiggy is an awesome epileptic cat who loves nothing more than being stroked and loved - we have never heard a cat with so many different chirrps, meows and purrs in her vocabulary.

Roger - Roger has brain damage from being dropped on his head by children as a kitten. He functions and cope extremely well with his disability. Virtual Mom - Karena Colley
Gerty (Crossed Rainbow Bridge) - The mascot of Second Chance and a walking miracle. She was found when she was only a few hours old, with her umbilical cord still attached. She screamed for three days on end due to severe colic. Most people who saw her said that she would never survive, but she beat the odds. Gerty has retired from an extremely successful show career and has been in a magazine, few articles as well as a TV Commercial (Belgotex Carpets) (see media).

Lilly - Our first cat at Second Chance, Lilly, has a wonderful personality and love nothing more than to sleep on her back in front or below a fan.
Molly - Taken in from another shelter, she had an extremely bad Herpes infection and was completely blind from ulcers on her eyes. Luckily we managed to save Molly's eye sight and she has excellent vision. Just a little squint but we love her dearly. Virtual Mommy - Ilse Lourens

Mali - Unfortunately it is impossible to have a piece of chocolate in close proximity to Mali. She will even go as far as to try and open your mouth to get to a piece of Muesli Supreme.
Ricardo was born at Second Chance Sanctuary after his mom was dumped just before she was about to give birth
Romi -
A gorgeous feral girl that moved in with a loving senior couple who
cared and loved her for 4 years, but could not take her with them when
they moved to their retirement home. Virtual Mom - Barbara Wath

Angelina was brought to Second Chance after her owner did not want her anymore, the diet that she was fed by the previous owner was so bad that she now has osteoarthritis. Angelina is very demanding, and you will know that she is unhappy if she screams at you. It is estimated that Angelina is about 20 years old. Virtual Mom - Eleni Tatayas
When Mrs Wilson was a kitten, she was the grumpiest kitten we had ever come across - she would grumble and growl at everything, she even grumbled in her sleep!
Jenny was found at the wharf.
